November NOLA Mission Trip
There are quite a bit of loose ends that need to be finished. I have pictures and details of some of them below but there are several more not shown. They are as follows
Install wiring for eternal light
Place shower bases on second floor and build wing walls in 2 bathrooms
Add doorway to attic space, install joists and plywood for heating unit
Build 2 return air chase for Sanctuary
There are over 800 hangers installed in the building about 200 of them do not have all the nails in them and have to be finished
The second floor has had the entire floor covered with 1/2 plywood. It is still soft in some areas and the whole floor needs to be stapled off.
The rest of the projects are described and pictured below
1. The soffit and fascia along the east of the church needs to be replaced. The rotten wood needs to be cut away, metal flashing removed and then the soffit blocked down 1 1/2". 1/2" ac is being used as soffit material. Once all the soffit work is complete a 1x6 fascia needs to be installed with a 1x4 trim piece at the windows to fill gap. A filler strip will need to be installed before the 1x4 so it will lay flat. Another group started this and is probably half done, they were a group of youth so some of the work will have to be looked at. Once completed the entire system will need to be caulked and painted.
You can see where the new work stopped flashing still needs to be removed and old electric pipe on wall should be removed also
You can see where the back 1x4 filler needs to go. A strip of plywood will need to be installed first to keep the 1x4 level
Materials have been primed and one coat of finish, will need to be caulked and finish painted once up.
2. The north end of the soffit was originally cover in shingles. We are going to replace with T1-11 siding. This is going to take some work to get everything to lay flat. We may have to replace the bottom 2' of fascia coming down the gable end so there is something for the siding to land on. This is on the front of the Church and we should talk about this before starting.
3. The south end of the soffit has the situation except is is more straight forward. The group before nail a temporary piece of plywood but this will be removed and the side run up the roof line
4. An old roof vent sticks through the roof and must be removed. A section of shingles will need to be removed also so the plywood below can be patched and then new shingles worked in.
5. There are several exterior windows on the east side that need to be trimmed. (WE DO NOT WANT TO TRIM THE REAR WINDOWS AT THIS TIME AS FLASHING STILL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED)
6. One of the arches is rotted and needs to be repaired. Framing has been added and it no longer is carrying the weight so the patch does not have to be structural.
7. There is another rotted hole high in the front soffit. It will need to be dealt with.
8. Gutters need to be built and hung on the front 2 dormers.
The gutters placed on the back need work. One is bent at the end and needs to be straightened.
The other one needs to be moved over to cover rake board. It is long enough it was just mounted to far over. Both downspouts need 2 straps, they currently have one and it needs to be removed and redone.
Gutter supplies, we will need to see what we have left and order new as needed
9. The 2 dormers on the back side need to be painted. If we have extra time and hands the entire west gable needs to be painted also (no picture)
10. All of the blocks on the front and rear roof need to be removed and holes caulked by raising the shingles and applying sealed
11. There are 2 holes in the ceiling by the front of the Chancel. Replacements will have to be fabricated and worked in.
12. There are light trays running down the sides of the sanctuary. The end two section are missing and need to be covered to match, the framing was completed by another team The front is 1/4 plywood but the bottom may need to be fabricated if we cannot find siding to match. Again if we have extra time and hands all of these trays need to be repaired, sanded, caulked and painted.
13. On the inside of the front wall, blocks were installed to hold the brickwork steady. All of these blocks need to be tappconed into brick
14. The plumber is finishing the drain and vent for the second floor bathrooms. The 3/4 plywood needs to be replaced and then a top layer of 1/2 plywood install.
