Gill's at Lake Defiance
Lake Defiance is a creek fed, 40 acre lake, that has provided anglers opportunities to catch trophy sized Large Mouth Bass and Northern Pike. Bluegills and Catfish are also taken throughout the season. The lake is a controlled lake, and boat access is limited to Gill's boats only.
Gill's at Lake Defiance offers a full bait and tackle shop, along with a scaled down version of Gill's Galley. We are only opened on the weekends, but access to the boats can be arranged a the McHenry Dam Gill's, any day of the week.
Gill's Galley is located in the lower level of the park office in Moraine Hills State Park. The Galley is not only for the anglers though, several hiking and biking trails run past the park office. The rear deck, overlooking the lake, is a great place to stop and enjoy your lunch or a snack.

Gill's Rental Rates
We have 5 14' Lowe Jon boats for rent on Lake Defiance.
Rental is a day rate of $25.00, this includes 2 oars and an anchor.
Only electric trolling motors are allowed
Life jackets are required for each person in the boat, and are available for rent @ $1.00 each.
Boats are due back 1 hour before the bait shop closes.
A yearly pass is available for $250.00. This allows unlimited use of Gill's boats at both location, for the entire season, excluding holiday weekends. (Call Gill's for more information)

miles to entrance of Moraine Hills State Park. Follow the road into the
