Fishing Report

4/30/08

The lower river is now open and we will be open on Thursday May 1rst..

To all anglers who have purchased season passes for use at the river,  we will be not issuing season passes for use on the river, do to the month you have missed and will be returning your uncashed checks to you. Season passes for Lake Defiance are still in effect.  We will return to our normal hours once the river reopens.  As always call first to make sure we will be there before making the trip.

The fishing season started on Friday.  As predicted we are about 2 weeks later this year due to the hard winter.  Big crappies and strippers being taken off the wall on small fatheads and leaf worms.  On Sunday several largemouth were caught on crawlers just below the spillway.

Alright, now a word on carp.  I'm still not buying into the "carp fishing is the next big thing" but I did see some monster carp caught in between the crappies.  I just can't figure out what there going to do with them.

See you soon,

Gill

We get many phone calls and email about Lake Defiance.  Anglers want to know what's happening over in the park.  To answer those questions we sent a couple of our regulars over there this week armed with our special minnows and a camera. Click on the Lake Defiance link  (Lake Defiance) to see pictures from their 3 hour trip.  Largemouth Bass action has been good along the lilly pads.  Make sure you bring your weedless tackle.
